Thousands Join Pro-Palestine Rallies as Coordinators Pledge to Continue Demonstrating

Numerous individuals gathered in various Australian cities at rallies supporting Palestine, with organisers pledging to continue protesting after a peace arrangement facilitated by the former US president in Gaza initially appeared to be holding.

Sydney Demonstration Draws Large Crowd

In Sydney, the pro-Palestine organization said thirty thousand participants had demonstrated from Hyde Park to Belmore Park in the city center after a scheduled protest to the iconic venue was restricted by the New South Wales court of appeal in recent days.

NSW police estimated a crowd of 8,000 attended the local rally, with a spokesperson stating there had been "no significant incidents".

Australian Rallies Remember Occasion

Protests were also conducted in Victoria's capital, eastern city and west coast metropolis on the day of protest to remember two years of killing in Gaza after armed incidents on 7 October 2023 resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths in Israel.

"Regarding our cause, we'll definitely persist to protest for a free Palestine... for local governance, for aid to be allowed in and for locals to reconstruct their homes," commented one organiser.

Differing Opinions to Ceasefire Agreement

Many protesters expressed hope that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Some were doubtful of American participation and urged supporters to maintain pressure on the Australian government to apply measures and halt weapons commerce.

One protester, a Palestinian Australian residing in the city, expressed he hoped the agreement would allow him to reunite with his aging parent, who is remaining in the territory without medical attention, to Australia, and to discover and lay to rest his brother, sister-in-law and their four children, who have been lost contact in 2023.

Jewish Australians Organizes Memorial

In another development, many individuals participated in a Jewish community commemoration on the evening in eastern Sydney to commemorate the two-year mark of 7 October. Geoffrey Majzner, the brother of Galit Carbone, an national who was deceased in the incident, was arranged to talk.

There were prayers for the imminent repatriation of the captives still held in the territory and the victims of the attacks. The coordinator commented during the protest: "On each occasion the authorities try to restrict our protests or legal challenges, it raises public awareness... to the necessity to organize and stand up against it."
